Cherry Occasions was founded in 2005 by Yianna Tsolaki whose vision was to introduce eye catching innovative young designers of any discipline to showcase in its gallery located in the historic town centre of Nicosia, Phaneromeni Square.
Having successfully promoted the work of various fresh innovative designers and design groups to the local market, the small gallery had completed its cycle.

Today with its new identity, Cherry Concepts and Spaces, focuses mainly on innovative techniques or material in the furniture sector, by stretching the limits of what creativity can and should do – pave its own way. Most recently a new local line has been actively worked upon and is slowly making its way into the market, Glue Nicosia.  This is the bringing together of in-house or other designers who’s common denominator is the beauty of this troubled City. Creations strive to exemplify the identity of Nicosia and the prevailed beauty we are accustomed to seeing but not fully appreciating.

The fundamentals behind the Philosophy when deciding to work with a new line or designer remain unchanged –
emotions need to be evoked within the designs whilst keeping within The 10 Principles of Good Design as laid out by Dieter Rams (influential industrial designer of the 20th Century).

  • Good design is innovative
  • Good design makes a product useful
  • Good design is aesthetic
  • Good design makes a product understandable
  • Good design is unobtrusive
  • Good design is honest
  • Good design is long lasting
  • Good design is thorough down to the last detail
  • Good design is environmentally friendly
  • Good design is as little design as possible
